School Day
At Silverdale, we believe that the school day is about much more than lessons. Alongside a broad and ambitious curriculum, students have access to a wide range of opportunities to develop their interests, talents, confidence and friendships.
Our school opens early and remains active beyond the core school day, with a rich programme of clubs, sport, music, enrichment, leadership and other activities available throughout the week.

Students should arrive by 8.55am. Students arriving after this time will be recorded as late.
Before the School Day
Our school day begins well before the first lesson.
From 7.30am, students can access our Breakfast Club, providing a welcoming and supportive start to the day.
We also offer a range of morning clubs and activities, giving students the opportunity to take part in activities they enjoy, develop new interests and spend time with friends before lessons begin.
Lunchtime
Lunch is an important part of life at Silverdale. As well as having time to eat, relax and socialise, students can take part in a range of lunchtime clubs, activities and enrichment opportunities.
There are opportunities across sport, music, the arts, academic subjects, student leadership and many other areas.
Beyond the School Day
The opportunities don't stop when lessons finish at 3.15pm.
We provide an extensive programme of extracurricular activities and enrichment after school, allowing students to explore interests beyond their timetabled curriculum and develop skills, confidence and relationships.
Our programme includes opportunities such as:
- Sport and physical activity
- Music and performing arts
- Creative and cultural activities
- Academic enrichment and subject clubs
- Oracy, debate and public speaking
- Trips, visits and cultural experiences
- Student leadership and volunteering
- Competitions and challenges
- Clubs that allow students to explore new interests
More Than a School Day
At Silverdale, we want every student to find something that inspires them, challenges them or gives them a sense of belonging.
Whether that is representing the school on a sports team, performing on stage, joining a lunchtime club, developing a new skill, taking part in a trip or simply spending time with friends, our wider programme gives students opportunities to discover what they enjoy and what they are capable of.
Our school day is about providing students with the opportunities, experiences and relationships that help them to thrive, in lessons and beyond them.
School Opening Hours
- School is open from 07:30am–4:30pm in order that before and after school clubs and activities can take place. Unless attending a club or activity, students should arrive between 8:30 and 8:55am.
- Compulsory times that students should be in school are 08:55am–3:15pm.
- The total weekly time for which students should be in school is 31 hours 40 minutes.
