  • Communication

At Silverdale School, we are committed to providing high-quality, clear, regular and responsive communication with our learning community, including students, parents and carers, staff, trustees, partners and the wider community.

We believe that effective communication is central to building strong relationships, fostering a sense of belonging and ensuring that every student has the opportunity to thrive. We value the partnership between home and school and recognise that working together, through open and constructive communication, helps us achieve the best possible outcomes for our students.

Our communication will be clear, accessible and written in plain English. Where specialist terminology is necessary, we will explain what it means. We will use a range of communication methods and digital platforms to ensure that information is shared effectively and reaches the people who need it.

We want parents and carers to feel informed, listened to and confident in contacting us. We are committed to responding professionally and in a timely manner, creating opportunities for dialogue and ensuring that communication reflects our values of Ambition, Belonging and Integrity.

    Silverdale School’s communication commitment

    • Keep our community informed by sharing relevant, accurate and timely information about school life, student learning, progress, achievements and important developments.
    • Be open, honest and professional in all our communication, building trust through transparency, respect and integrity.
    • Make communication clear and accessible by using plain English, avoiding unnecessary jargon and considering the needs of our diverse community.
    • Respond in a timely and appropriate manner to questions, concerns and feedback, recognising the importance of effective two-way communication.
    • Use the most appropriate communication method for the message, audience and circumstances, making effective use of digital platforms, written communication, meetings and face-to-face conversations.
    • Work in partnership with parents and carers by listening to feedback, valuing different perspectives and recognising the shared responsibility we have for students’ success and wellbeing.
    • Celebrate the life of our school by sharing the achievements, opportunities and experiences that make Silverdale a thriving and inclusive learning community.

At Silverdale, communication is more than sharing information. It is about building relationships, strengthening trust and working together to ensure every student feels supported, valued and able to achieve their best.
