Join Us: Sixth Form
Silverdale Sixth Form provides a welcoming, aspirational environment where students can flourish and achieve their best. The majority of our students progress to higher education, many of them at very competitive universities. Expert support and guidance is given to all students by a team with a wealth of experience.
Open Day
All are welcome to attend our Sixth Form open evening on Friday 20 November from 5.30pm until 8.00pm. During the evening, there will be regular presentations by our Headteacher, Jim Smith, and our Head of Sixth Form. There will be plenty of opportunity to explore and meet staff and students.
We are looking forward to showing you around our dedicated Sixth Form facility, in which Silverdale Sixth Formers have space to study and relax within our welcoming and inclusive community.
The entire school will be open to visitors and our subject specialist teaching staff will be on hand to inform about the wider range of post-16 subjects available to study at Silverdale Sixth Form.
Please note that the school road will be closed for the duration of the event and parking in the surrounding area will be very limited. To help ensure a safe and smooth experience for everyone, we strongly encourage families to travel on foot or use public transport wherever possible. If you do need to travel by car, we kindly ask that you park considerately and respect our neighbours at all times. Thank you for your support in helping us run a safe and successful event.

When to apply
You can apply any time from 1 December, when Sheffield Progress opens, until 31 January. Please be aware that schools will set their own internal deadline for submitting sixth form applications, so make sure you know when these are. Applications received after the 31 January deadline will not be dealt with until 21 March at the earliest.
Entry requirements
Students who meet the entry criteria of 5 subjects at grades 4 to 9, including English and maths, and the individual subject entry requirements, as stipulated on our course pages, will be offered a place at Silverdale Sixth Form in line with the admissions process.
Students who are predicted to meet the general minimum requirement of 5 subjects at grades 4 to 9 (plus any subject-specific entry requirements) and who attend a school within Chorus Education Trust will get priority over other non-Chorus students.
Guidance for applying to Sheffield Sixth Forms can be found on page 89 in Sheffield City Council's 'Transfer to Secondary School 2024/25' document.
Please note that all courses are subject to change, depending on the number of students who apply and the availability of teaching staff.
