James began his career in education after studying History and completing his teacher training at Sheffield Hallam University. Originally from County Durham, James has spent his teaching career in South Yorkshire and is now in his tenth year at Silverdale School.

During his time at Silverdale, James has developed extensive experience across teaching, mentoring and leadership. He has held a range of roles and responsibilities and is currently the Managing Mentor for Initial Teacher Training and the ECT Induction Tutor, supporting trainee and early-career teachers across their development.

James is passionate about high-quality teaching and professional development. He is currently working alongside the Assistant Headteacher for Teaching and Learning to develop student behaviours in the classroom that support learning and improve progress. His approach focusses on practical, evidence-informed strategies that have a meaningful impact on both teaching and student outcomes.
